The Calvary Amplar Health Joint Venture is a joint venture between Calvary Health Care and Amplar Health. Backed by the strength of Calvary Health Care and Amplar Health since 2020 and drawing upon over 100 years of healthcare excellence in Australia, we have united our efforts in the form of a Joint Venture to stand at the forefront of delivering exceptional virtual hospital services.
In collaboration with funders, we develop cutting-edge programs powered by clinical expertise and technology, all designed to relieve health system pressures and enable greater access to healthcare.
Our achievements to date include remarkable levels of patient satisfaction, notable decreases in emergency department visits, and significant cost savings.
Established in 1885 by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, Calvary Health Care is a not-for-profit Catholic health care organisation.

We deliver this through a combination of remote monitoring software and partnership with local service providers to enable face-to-face care.
By leveraging our joint pool of resources and connections, the Calvary Amplar Health Joint Venture can provide agile digital healthcare solutions to provide benefit to referrers and patients alike.
Patients have received acute care at home through our programs to date (My Home Hospital and Covid Care at Home).
Accredited as a standalone hospital under the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.

My Home Hospital is an SA Health service delivered by the Calvary Amplar Health Joint Venture that provides acute, hospital-level care to patients in the comfort and privacy of their own homes.
Since commencing in January 2021, the My Home Hospital service has serviced over 15,000 patients (as of 30 June 2024) in the greater Adelaide region.
We continue to expand our scope to enable delivery of care to a wider range of patients including post-surgical care options that address bed challenges for elective and non-elective surgery.
The Calvary Amplar Health Joint Venture was a leader in the virtual COVID-19 response through the delivery of the Covid Care at Home program.
Covid Care at Home was a key hospital avoidance strategy and demonstrated our expertise and capability to rapidly scale and deliver virtual care across the nation.
A team of remote agents, in collaboration with a clinical workforce managing and triaging each patient, made hundreds of calls daily to COVID-positive patients.
We helped nearly 200,000 COVID-positive patients across Australia, caring for people in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia.
Sarah McRae is the Chief Executive Officer at Calvary Amplar Health Joint Venture, where she has overseen the full accreditation of their Virtual Hospital, against NSQHS Standards as one of the first in Australia. She is an known Executive in Health, and was the Executive of Strategy at the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network and Chief Operating Officer at Women’s and Children’s Health Network, prior to moving into the private sector. She has demonstrated strong leadership and management skills in healthcare settings. Sarah is known as a change champion and has successfully led large-scale strategic, operational and financial improvements to deliver new and innovative initiatives. Her experience working in both public and private healthcare sectors enables her to successfully navigate the current eco-system of health care.
Emily is an experienced healthcare medical leader, board director, specialist general practitioner and academic, with a proven track record on overseeing and delivering innovative, yet complex health projects. At Calvary Amplar Health, Emily leads and oversees digital transformation, innovation and clinical governance, across the JV virtual programs. With a strong clinical governance background and safety reform agenda, through formal qualifications and as a medical administrator, she is passionate about how innovation can lead to better outcomes.
Emily has held previous roles in the Department for Health and Wellbeing in SA including Executive Director of Community and Primary Care Partnerships, Deputy Chief Public Health Officer and Deputy Chief Medical Officer at SA Health.
